Jae Young Lee of Northeast Asia Regional Peacebuilding Institute flew into Los Angeles after the Northeast Asia Consultation at Duke Center for Reconciliation to lead this mediation skills workshop. On December 8, 2012, Jae led an informative workshop introducing the biblical basis for the work of reconciliation and then encouraged the 30 participants to get into small groups to process and contextualize the information through extensive discussions and role playing.
We were happy to welcome participants who came to our previous workshops, but we also saw new faces who were eagerly soaking in all the information. Many remarked that they were deeply encouraged to see that mediation skills are not only important concepts, but a life-transforming tool in the Korean society as shown in the numerous life examples shared by Jae Young. Junggyu Yang, the President of the Fuller Korean Student Association and the primary coordinator for this seminar, commented that he sees “a growing interest in these kinds of seminars because this is still relatively new to the Korean Christians” and observed that many are looking forward to the next workshops hosted by ReconciliAsian.
